It’s April 17th already…
How did 7 weeks on the road already fly by? There are only 4 full weeks left on the road until this tour is finished and the first two thirds seems like a blur.
Today is our last day in the Bay Area and we’re going to check out the Cherry Blossom Festival in San Fran and then drive through the Standford campus before heading to our screening in Merced tonight, so we’re excited for this action packed day of experiencing. The last couple of days have been spent in and around the Berkeley campus and having fun at Cal Day and seeing all of the street vendors on Telegraph Ave. and Katie trying to find a tall, big-haired, soulful, bohemian man. We love the Berkeley area!
This is a short entry, but long enough to say that we miss all of you that we’ve met and we’re excited to meet those of you we haven’t yet!
Much love,
William [and the West Nomads]

The scene in the van

3:57am. We’re on the road, on I-5 south and California bound. 6 hours ago, we went to a bar in Portland to say our final farewell to our friends who were playing music there. By 30 past midnight we were in our beds. Well, Katie was on her couch, and I and William built our own surprisingly comfy beds out of 10 church chairs each. I unsuccessfully tried to sleep for half an hour. I completed the hour sitting in the dark. Some thoughts about my future kept firing in my head, and I just let them flow. I wanted to talk to somebody. I got on Facebook. Morgan was online and we talked for about an hour. It was a blessing to have talked to her. By 3:15am, we were climbing on Daisy.

William is driving, wearing his sweatpants and beanie while listening to the Lion King sound track. I’m seating on the passenger side trying not to fall asleep. Katie is out sleeping like a little rock in the back seat. This is pretty much how our van normally looks like inside on long drives. Will drives in his Ray Ban sipping Starbuck while I pinch my thigh trying not to fall asleep, and Katie turns into a rock it the back seat.

Will looks sleepy. I better talk to him about cars.

portlandia

where young people go to retire!

if you met us in vancouver, YOU ARE AWESOME. we had such a crazy time in vancouver, between exploring the coolest forests ever, to Daisy getting towed, to incredibly generous people at screenings.

now we are in portland and there are lots of rain puddles and crazy people. we had a screening last night at grace chapel which broke all of our tour records thus far. it was epic! and the people are glorious.

if you go to portland ever, get a dozen donuts at voodoo donuts. captain crunch, oreos, grape, maple bacon, if you can dream it, theres a donut for it.

tour is more than halfways over! THANK YOU TO WHOEVER YOU ARE FOR BEING ALIVE.

keep the passion!

excited for the pacific northwest kids and inhabitants and grizzly bears. they gonna do work. rescue refugees. savin lives and takin names.

this week was an explosion. such an unexplainable time. so many people, screenings, sleep deprived days, delirium, emotions, koreans, cookies, tetherball, conversations, cannibalistic chickens, and crazy events. now it is time for some sleep for the weekend of more screenings and possibly a day of snowboarding with my cousins for a slight break from this MAD WHIRLWIND of beauty.
